Travelzoo have a good deal on the Noku hotel in Maldives. However, it is always worth checking your preferred dates on other sites first as it does obviously vary by date. I looked at random dates and the cheapest I found was £2745 for 5 nights in a Beach Villa including breakfast. That may be £145 cheaper but there is no way you would get lunch and dinner for two people for 5 nights for that in the Maldives. 

Noku Maldives is a 45-minute seaplane flight from Male International Airport. However, you do have to pay extra for the transfers.

Finnair UK Flight deals from £1188

Finnair has some good deals from the UK at the moment despite not being a Black Friday sale officially. They recently launched a new business class service on board that I was really impressed with. All their business class seats are decent with aisle access. You can read about their new business class service and new seats in this article. 

If you are looking for tier points, these are good options as the extra route to Helsinki gives you another 160 tier points round trip as well as the flight from Helsinki’s tier points. You can select a long haul aircraft for the route from London, although in the winter there is only one per day and two in summer.

Nectar and Ebay – 30 Nectar points per £1

You may remember a few months ago there was a big offer with Ebay for Nectar points during a small time window. This promotion is coming back for Black Friday. Nectar can be converted into Avios and the rates remain the same as before, even though converted Avios into Nectar has got worse.

Aer Lingus transatlantic sale – £100 off

Aer Lingus has £100 off return economy flights or £200 off return business class flights from Manchester to Orlando, New York and Barbados. The discount applies for travel between 1 January and 28 March  2023. You can read our review of Aer Lingus business class from Manchester here. 

Book by midnight 29 November 2022. A Saturday night stay is required to get the discount.

BA are having a 50% off sale on its High Life Duty Free and I’ve seen some real bargains. For those that prefer to keep their youthful looks and give themselves a tan from a bottle, Tan-Luxe The Face Illuminating Self Tan Drops, one of my favourite products is now only £10!

Another one of my previous purchases was this Bally’s foldable travel bag which is great to keep in your luggage in case you buy too much. It’s down from £230 to £135. You can also pay with Avios.

There’s also a classic pair of Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses for £54. You can pick them up on board or have them shipped to your home address.

Heathrow liquids ban Emirates confusion

Emirates has today caused mass confusion by releasing a statement saying that,

Due to the upcoming holidays, London Heathrow airport is expecting a high number of passengers travelling through the airport.

Airport authorities have mandated restrictions on all liquids carried in hand baggage.

Departing from LHR

Customers cannot carry liquids, creams and gels in their hand baggage. Customers not complying with the restriction might experience additional security checks.

Please arrive at the airport no earlier than 4 hours before the departure of your flight.

I immediately contacted Heathrow as this did not sound correct at all. It is incorrect, so don’t panic! There is no new liquids bans except the usual 100ml limit.

Heathrow Airport’s spokesperson said “This is incorrect, our hand luggage liquids policy has not changed, and we are looking to get this information corrected.”

IHG Black Friday sale

IHG One Rewards members can save up to 25%, while the non-member discount is 10% less. The sale is valid for stays until 28 February 2023 and must be booked by 2 December.

There are two versions of the sale, the European one which is 25% off with non IHG ONe members getting 15% instead and the Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean, Southeast Asia and Korea, India, Middle East, Africa and participating US hotels sale which is up to 25% with non IHG One members getting 10% less.  The discount is off the Best Flexible Rate.

The usual catch that the rates are prepaid, non-cancellable, and nonrefundable is the same for both offers.

Fares on Qatar have been extremely high recently. Even taking that into account, the Black Friday deals from the UK on Qatar are frankly poor, especially since they have reduced the benefits on the lowest price fares. The fares will be business class lite which means no lounge access or seat selection unless you have status. However, you can pay for these as extras. If you have status, then the new frequent flyer lounges are pretty good, so I’d be very happy to book a lite fare in future. You can see my review of the new lounges here. 

Whether we see any other deals that are not advertised pop up remains to be seen.

The sale has a banner saying about their “incredible fares”. The only thing incredible about many of the UK fares is how eye-wateringly expensive they are compared to elsewhere in Europe! On one fare there is £1403 difference between the cheapest European price and the UK price!

It’s also worth checking the price with BA as they can be slightly cheaper for booking Qatar Airways flights and do have lounge access and seat selection.

Ex EU deals

The EU deals are much better. While if you are still working on fares for 2019-2021 they may seem high, for 2022 they are pretty good. Airfares are still very high currently, particularly for Qatar Airways and these are decent deals.

However, during my research, I have found some other non Black Fridays fares for Finnair and BA that are better value so you may want to hang on until their sales launch later this week.

Black Friday deal to New York for £1044

You may have forgotten about La Compagnie over Covid, but I was pretty impressed when I flew them. The downside is that they don’t fly from the UK, but they do fly from Paris, Nice and Milan.

La Compagnie is an all-business class service, and with small A321LR aircraft it almost feels like a private jet. The only downside is that they fly from Paris Orly, which is not served by UK airlines. However, there is a bus service between the airports or you could have a night in Paris as I did. You can read my review of La Compagnie here. 

They have a Black Friday offer which is pretty good. From Paris to New York costs €1200 return when you book between 18 to 22 November 2022. The same price is available from Milan Malpensa too, which is easier for connections as you can fly into Malpensa from the UK easily.

Donate your Avios

If you have lots of Avios you are struggling to use, you may wish to donate a few to a good cause. Executive Club members can now donate to the BA Better World Community Fund using your Avios instead of cash. It’s also an option for those who want to do their bit without actually having to spend cash.

Hyatt’s new all-inclusive hotel in Madeira, Portugal

All-inclusive hotels for the major chain brands seem to be all the rage at the moment. Hyatt has been adding a number of these hotels, but if you are a Hyatt fan, there will soon be a new one to try. I’m not generally a fan of all-inclusive hotels in Europe, but this one does look rather luxurious, and I could definitely be tempted. It could be a good redemption opportunity for your Hyatt points since with an all-inclusive all your costs are pretty much covered apart from actually getting to the hotel. 

Hyatt has announced plans for the expansion of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection – a new global portfolio of luxury all-inclusive resort brands – to Portugal with Dreams Madeira Resort Spa & Marina. On the heels of Hyatt’s recently announced expansion plans for five all-inclusive resorts in Bulgaria, the planned debut of Dreams Madeira Resort Spa & Marina will mark the Inclusive Collection brand portfolio’s entry into Portugal, following existing all-inclusive brand presence in Spain and Greece and introducing the Unlimited-Luxury^® concept to the destination.

The hotel is expected to open once renovations are complete in early 2024. The Dreams Madeira Resort Spa & Marina will offer more than ten a la carte restaurants, seven bars, unlimited international and domestic top-shelf spirits, 24-hour room service, daily activities, nightly entertainment and more.  Activities for all-ages also include an onsite water park, an Explorer’s Club for kids, a Core Zone for teens, and a 9,800-square-foot (3,000-square-meter) spa for adults to unwind. The resort will also include exclusive adults-only areas and reserved spaces for preferred guests looking for an even more elevated guest experience.

The hotel is situated on the island of Porto Santo and is a previous hotel that will be completely renovated.  Dreams Madeira Resort Spa & Marina resort will feature 366 guestrooms, ranging from standard rooms to luxury villas, as well as an onsite private beach and marina.
